Tomasz Łysak Wilhelm Brasse served as an official photographer in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp recording new arrivals but also portraying camp officials or medical experiments. For a long time the images he took were not credited, and the filmmaker Dobrowolski brought his protagonist out of self-imposed anonymity. A screening of the film Portrecista (Portrait Photographer) was accompanied by a lecture by Dr. Łysak on photography as a medium in the camp and its use in commemoration after the war.
