Political scientist and historian Jack Jacobs discusses his latest work, Bundist Counterculture in Interwar Poland (Syracuse University Press, YIVO) While many earlier works on the politics of Polish Jewry suggest that the Bund’s considerable electoral success in the 1930s was not of lasting significance or was attributable to outside sources, Jacobs argues that it was actually linked to the work of the constellation of cultural, educational, and other organizations revolving around the party.
