Yedida Kanfer - doctoral candidate, Yale University In the years before World War I, the industrial city of Lodz, one of the greatest textile centers of the Russian Empire, was a center of Jewish religious institutions in Russian Poland. This talk will explain the link between Lodz and religious infrastructure, between industry and Orthodox politics.
