| Dr. Magdalena Ruta - Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies, Jagiellonian University of Crakow Kalman Segal was the last Polish Jewish writer to write in two languages (Polish and Yiddish) for the entire span of his literary career. A specific feature of Segal's literary work is self-translation or the simultaneous writing of the same works in two language versions that are similar, but not identical. Exploring the different versions of the same works, we get a glimpse into the psychological borderland that Segal found himself straddling as a Polish and Jewish writer.
