Reason #1: Become a Builder of History....

YIVO safeguards the history of East European Jewry in its archives and library.

As Jewish historian and YIVO founder Simon Dubnow urged more than a hundred years ago:

"I appeal to all educated readers—to the old and the young... Come join the camp of the builders of history!"

For nearly 80 years, YIVO has collected and preserved the primary records of daily life in Jewish Eastern Europe: the large and small things that comprise a culture and society, such as theater and political posters, family photographs, telephone directories from cities and towns, books in many languages (especially Yiddish), printed and recorded music, record books of Jewish organizations, family trees, folklore, and much more.

Reason #2: Continue a Jewish tradition by joining YIVO today...

Throughout history, Jewish communities have always supported scholarship and education. It was the financial contributions and personal involvement of individuals like yourself that built and sustained the great yeshivas, libraries, schools, and other cultural institutions of East European Jewry.

Reason #3: Forge a link in the chain of generations by supporting our work...

YIVO is a place where you can learn about the world of your parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents —where they came from, the languages they spoke, the songs they sang, how they lived.

We can help you research your family history, find photographs of Jewish communities in Eastern Europe, learn about Yiddish theater and music, study the Yiddish language, and celebrate the history of our Jewish community.

Me'dor Le'dor: From generation to generation. Strengthen the chain of generations by supporting the work of YIVO. Become a member today!
