| Established in 1999 as a committee of dedicated women volunteers and supporters, the YIVO International Women’s Division was officially established in May 2001 at the first annual Women’s Luncheon. Led by Fanya Gottesfeld Heller, Chair, the YIVO International Women’s Division works to raise money to support YIVO programs, while annually honoring some of the most distinguished activists and scholars in Holocaust remembrance and Jewish cultural activities. The group is charged with helping YIVO to find innovative ways to foster meaningful remembrance, forge links between generations, and to teach about East European life and culture. In 2009 the Annual Heritage Luncheon was renamed in memory of Eta Wrobel, the founder of the YIVO Women’s Committee. |
