This concert will present the music of Anton Rubinstein, one of Russia's greatest pianists, a prolific composer and the founder of the Russian School of Piano. Compositions of a succession of Russian composers influenced by him - Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff and Shostakovich - will be performed. A brief presentation, drawing on archival materials from the YIVO collection and other sources, will precede the concert.
