The Second Annual International Women's Division Luncheon featured special guest speaker Naomi Levine, Senior Vice President for External Affairs at New York University and founder of its Center for Philanthropy and Fundraising. Levine was profiled in Lifestyles Magazine, and is an outspoken advocate for Jewish women. At NYU, Levine co-chairs the Advisory Board that supervises the Edgar M. Bronfman Center for Jewish Student Life.
Eta Wrobel was honored for her work on behalf of YIVO. In addition to chairing the YIVO International Women's Division, Wrobel also is dedicated to AKIM, Hadassah, Israel Bonds, Zionist causes and the Jewish people worldwide. The first Me'dor Le'dor Award was presented to YIVO Board member Rosina Abramson, the child of Kovno Ghetto survivors, for her commitment to yidishkayt and to continuity. Mira Jedwabnik Van Doren received the first Vilna Award, for being a keeper of the heritage and culture of Vilna.
All proceeds from the event went to support the EPYC - Educational Program on Yiddish Culture high school curriculum, as well as other YIVO projects and programs.
